And here is the text of an email sent by PCSO Panduma Munetsi to Councillor Jim Millard regarding the issues at the shared cycle / pedestrian path at the foot of Kingston Bridge:

To Cllr Jim Millard, from PCSO 7157SW MUNETSI, 31 October 2025
“I would like to bring to your attention an issue raised during the PLG meeting on the 16/06/2025, of which I believe some residents may have already contacted you regarding the matter. I am simply adding my observations to their concerns.

“The issue pertains to cyclists on the KINGSTON BRIDGE travelling downhill towards HAMPTON COURT ROAD. As shown in the images attached, the markings separating pedestrians and cyclist ends before the traffic lights. It also states that it’s a shared path(image 3), but with no markings on the pavement which is creating some friction amongst the two groups.
The area on images 4 & 5, has been identified as the risk area.
During my patrols, I have personally observed increased tension between cyclists and pedestrians in this area, with both groups claiming their right to use the pavement.
The main concern appears to be the speed at which cyclist descend the hill/bridge, which seems unavoidable due to the slope.

“If it’s within your power could markings(or anything better that would keep both parties safe) be put on the pavement to indicate where each group is supposed to be.

We look forward to hearing from you.”
