Hampton Wick Remembers, 2019
Saturday 16th November 2019
Once again there was a large turnout, estimated at around 200, on Remembrance Sunday in Hampton Wick.
The procession started from st John’s Square at about 10.40am and proceeded down the High Street to the war memorial. It was led by a lone piper, followed by the sea cadets, serving and retired members of HM Forces, representatives of various organisations and Hampton Wick residents. Richmond Council was represented by Cllr Jim Millard.
Rev. Jerry Field conducted the ceremony which included readings and hymns. The passing traffic was stopped during the two minute silence allowing time for quiet reflection. Wreaths were laid by service and civilian representatives. The wreath on behalf of the Hampton Wick Association was laid by our Chairman, Mark Merrington.
Our thanks go to Rev. Field and St John’s Church, ex-service representatives and HWA members for their input into the organisation and smooth running of the procession and ceremony. It is gratifying to see such a good attendance form the Hampton Wick community each year.
Fraser Wilson, HWA Secretary
