Avoid a traffic fine on the Lower Teddington Road

A School Street has been in operation since 12 October 2020 along Lower Teddington Road from junction with Seymour Road to the southern junction with Broom Park. The hours of operation are as follows: Monday to Friday 8.15 to 9.00am and 2.45 to 3.30pm, term time only.

Initially, closure was managed using barriers and volunteers but the use by the Council of cameras has now begun. A number of local residents have already received letters from the Council warning them that they have contravened the School Street restriction. although to date the fine has been reduced to nil. Aside from avoiding a fine in the future, one of the purposes of School Streets is to ensure a safer space for children around their school which will be compromised if the restrictions aren’t respected.

If you drive along Lower Teddington Road you may want to check the dates of Richmond’s term times here: richmond.gov.uk/term_dates – and make a note of the hours of operation above.

It’s worth noting also that there are School Streets across the borough with their locations identified here: Fourteen school streets now live in Richmond! – London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
