HWA looking for new treasurer

Can you help?

If you think you might be able to help or you’d just like some more information, please get in touch: info@hamptonwick.org.uk

This is a volunteer position. The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for keeping track of the Association’s funds, its income and expenditure. The accounts are very simple and no formal accounting experience or qualifications are required.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage the Association’s bank account, PayPal account and NS&I savings account.
  • Make payments to suppliers and HWA committee members against invoices and submitted receipts.
  • Maintain records (an Excel spreadsheet) of payments into and out of the Association’s accounts.
  • Prepare and deliver a summary and report of the accounts for the Annual General Meeting. (An independent HWA member will check the accounts through before you have to submit your report.)
  • Attend HWA committee meetings (approx. 10 per year).
  • As an HWA committee member, participate in HWA events and activities throughout the year.

You will need:

  • An organised mind and basic numeracy (no formal accounting skills needed)
  • Familiarity with online banking
  • Familiarity with Excel spreadsheets (not advanced)
  • Ideally some experience with online payment systems. Currently we use PayPal as our payment gateway (for membership fees and ticket sales) but we would like to explore alternatives (eg. Stripe etc). Our requirements in this area are very basic.
  • Ideally, you will also bring energy, interest and ideas to contribute as a member of the HWA committee.

Time commitment:

  • For Treasurer-specific responsibilities, approx. 1 – 2 hours per month, a bit more in the run-up to the AGM.
  • For HWA committee member activities – the sky’s the limit! Committee meetings are 1 to 2 hours, 10 times pa. After that it entirely depends on how much involvement you choose to have in various events, campaigns and activities.
