Remembrance Sunday 2023

Hampton Wick turned out in force for 2023’s Remembrance Sunday.

The procession left The Foresters at 10.30am, led by the Sea Cadets and serving and retired military personnel.

At the Memorial Garden, Rev Jerry Field and Rev Anna Evans led a short service to remember the fallen and to pray for peace worldwide. The hymns were ‘How Great Thou Art’ and ‘Amazing Grace’.

Just before 11am the bugler played the Last Post. Traffic was halted on Kingston Bridge, the High Street and Hampton Court Road so that the two minute silence was absolute. ‘Reveille’ marked the end of the silence and the service concluded shortly afterwards.

Many of us, including both Reverends, retired to the local pubs afterwards to chat with friends and neighbours.
