Un grand succès, ein grosser Erfolg!

The HWA’s 62nd Annual General Meeting took place at Bullen Hall on 10th April 2025.

The event had a French & German theme to celebrate this year’s reaffirmation of Richmond Borough’s twinning with Fontainebleau and Konstanz. Bullen Hall was suitably festooned with flags of the three nations and the cash bar featured French wines and German beers, including a Weiss (wheat) beer and a rather strong “Doppelbock”!

The publicity for the evening had clearly been effective, as Bullen Hall was filled to capacity with more than 45 people crowding in.

Chairman Fraser Wilson welcomed everyone and there followed his report of the year and the Treasurer’s Report. Both of these reports, together with the Minutes of the AGM will be published on the AGM section of this website. The election of the officers was approved by show of hands.

With the formalities out of the way, Mark Merrington took over as Quizmaster with questions and music challenges to test our knowledge of France and Germany. Snacks of French bread and cheese and German smoked ham and sausage were served to all the tables and the bar continued to do a brisk trade.

Everyone had a great time, and we received feedback including: “That’s the best AGM I’ve ever attended!” and “I really enjoyed it – very creative”.
