HWA Library Gardening Gang
You may not be aware that our wonderful Library staff are supported throughout the year by teams of HWA volunteers.
Every Wednesday and Friday, HWA volunteers are at the Library from 12 to 2pm enabling it to stay open while the staff take turns to have their lunch breaks. The rota of volunteers, managed by Helen Page, has never once missed a day!
Each month the Gardening Gang volunteers meet at the Library to look after the gardens. Currently there are some vivid pink nerines and pretty blue irises to enjoy at the front. And don’t miss the secret back garden – a secluded sun-trap which is a perfect spot to sit and read or share a book with children.
Last Sunday was the final Gardening Gang session before Christmas so the team enjoyed some well-deserved mulled wine and mince pies after they’d finished picking up fallen leaves, planting of tulip bulbs and seasonal pruning.
Hampton Wick Library is open on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. It’s a wonderful local amenity with computers, a lovely dedicated children’s section and a wide choice of books to suit all tastes – and you can order in almost any book, free of charge!
The Library is rather hidden away! Find it via Bennet Close or School Lane at KT1 4AT or use What3Words: nurse.rather.books. Parking for cars and bikes is available.
